Creating Date and Time-Based Discounts
Layer a day-wide promotion and sharper slot-level offers with clear priority rules.

Overview
Promotions are managed in Discounts and Discount Management (sidebar Discounts section). Two views share the same backend: Calendar View shows a month grid so you can set a day-level discount percentage per date; Date View opens one day, lists every materialized time slot, and lets you edit both the Date Base Discount (applies to all slots that day) and individual Slot Override percentages. Slot-level values always win over the day value; empty slot fields mean "inherit from day". Percentages must be between 0 and 100. Updates are versioned, if two people edit at once you may see a version mismatch error and should refresh. Date View includes Clear All Slot Discounts to remove every override so slots inherit only the day discount. The table shows each slot's applied discount and whether it came from the slot, the day, or none. Use the info button to open the in-app Discounts Guide for the same priority explanation.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open Discount Management
Choose Discounts and Discount Management while a place is selected.
Pick Calendar or Date view
Calendar View is fastest for spreading a single percentage across many dates. Date View is for fine-tuning individual slots on one day.
Set the day-level discount
Enter a Date Base Discount (0 to 100) and apply. This becomes the default for every active slot that day unless overridden.
Add slot overrides in Date View
For each time row, type a slot-specific percentage and apply. Leave inherit empty to fall back to the day discount.
Read the applied column
Applied Discount and Source show the effective value guests should see after priority resolution.
Tips & Best Practices
Start conservative
Large percentages on peak slots can cannibalize full-price demand; test on quiet lunch bands first.
Refresh after errors
A version mismatch means someone else saved, reload the day or month before retrying.
Pair with Availability
Turning slots off beats discounting them when you truly cannot serve guests.
Explain offers to staff
Hosts should know which windows are promotional so phone bookings stay consistent.
